‘Don’t take fans for granted’: Frustrated India Pace Great wants BCCI to sort Cricket World Cup ticketing system ‘tougher than before’ | Cricket News

The 2023 Cricket World Cup is upon us. It starts on October 5th in Ahmedabad, while the final will be held on November 19th at the same venue. Ticket sales for the tournament have already started, with the India-Pakistan match on October 14 attracting the greatest interest. However, several fans said they had a hard time booking tickets. The great Indian pacemaker Venkatesh Prasad is also disappointed with the ticket deal by the organizers.

“It has never been so easy to get World Cup tickets. But this time it was more difficult than before. Could have been planned better and I sympathize with the fans who had high hopes and struggled to get tickets. I sincerely hope one of the biggest. “Key stakeholders, fans get their money’s worth and I hope @BCCI makes it easier for fans,” he wrote on X.

“I urge @BCCI to be more transparent in the World Cup ticketing system and not take fans for granted. In any case, in a stadium like Ahmedabad, for a #IndvsPak duel, there must be more than the 8500 tickets sold available when the capacity is 1 lakh +. Likewise, a larger part of all other games must be dedicated to the fans. It will be more fulfilling if the die-hard fan is satisfied and not deprived of this opportunity, rather than reserving a large chunk for corporations and members,” he wrote in a separate post.

Former Indian cricket team opening player Gautam Gambhir has announced his selection for the 2023 ICC World Cup squad and there have been some surprising decisions. Both Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur failed to find a place in his roster and instead Gambhir chose all-rounder Washington Sundar and also pacemaker Prasidh Krishna as fourth fast bowling options. In the batting department, he opted for Suryakumar Yadav with KL Rahul as the second wicket-keeper option behind Ishan Kishan, who will be the first choice for the position.

For the all-rounders, Gambhir chose Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya and Washington Sundar. Kuldeep Yadav was the third spin bowling option in the roster.

The fast bowling division had the usual three options: Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami. The surprise selection, however, fell to Prasidh Krishna, who was sidelined through injury and made his comeback against Ireland. Shardul Thakur did not find a place in the team.
