‘He is a human being like you’: Ravi Shastri’s message to Mumbai Indians fans who boo Hardik Pandya | Cricket News

Former Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri believes Mumbai Indians fans need to be patient with captain Hardik Pandya and stop booing him during the 2024 IPL matches. Hardik replaced Rohit Sharma as MI captain after completing a sensational swap from Gujarat Titans, but under his leadership the team has lost three consecutive games in the competition. The reaction from a section of the crowd was not exactly positive as Hardik was booed during the home game against Rajasthan Royals. Shastri said that Hardik is a new captain and at the end of the day, fans need to remember that the all-rounder is a “person like them”.

“They have supported the team over the years. In just 2-3 games they won’t be a bad team. They are five-time champions and after all they have a new captain. Just be patient, you know the guy.” “You’re human like yourself. At the end of the day, he has to sleep at night. So just think about it and be calm,” Ravi Shastri said on Star Sports.

“My thing to Hardik would be: ‘Calm, be patient, ignore and then just concentrate on your game’. You get a few gigs. They are a great team, if they win 3-4 games everything will subside. You.” “It will be so, things will change,” he added.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya on Tuesday assured that the former champions will not give up and will continue to fight in the ongoing IPL despite suffering a hat-trick of defeats.
“If you know one thing about this team, we never give up. We will keep fighting, we will keep going,” Hardik posted on X.

Hardik has been facing the wrath of fans ever since he replaced Rohit Sharma as MI captain. The all-rounder was booed in the team’s first two games and crowd hostility reached its peak on Monday at MI’s first home game of the season.

To add insult to injury, MI’s IPL 2024 campaign under his captaincy has had a disastrous start as they find themselves at the bottom of the table after three consecutive defeats.

However, myocardial infarctions are known to be a constant slow starter. In 2015, they lost their first four games before winning the title.

Hardik’s poor captaincy claims were also questioned – whether it was about giving Bumrah the new ball or sending Tim David ahead of him against Gujarat Titans.

The change in captaincy did not go down well with the legions of MI supporters. On Monday, chants of “Rohit Rohit” filled the Wankhede while the Indian captain himself urged the crowd not to taunt Hardik.

Mumbai Indians will face Delhi Capitals at home on Sunday.
